My sister turns 22 today, so I think it’s fitting to dedicate my 2nd blog to her. Here are some interesting facts about Kim:
1) She loves kids
And they love her back. Whenever she attempts to play with a kid, even the difficult ones who can’t seem to get off their mamas, she would always always make them come to her. I don’t know what it is about her, maybe it’s her softness, or her charm, okay maybe because she’s soft that’s why kids like to hug her. If this Actuary thing does not work out, she’s going to be a great nanny for sure! (kidding!)
2) She’s a dancer
Oh yes, she is. I don’t want to brag, but dancing runs in the family, ehem, well my mother’s side of the family. I remember she was enrolled in a summer dancing class when she was in high school, and they did a recital at CCP. Boy was I surprised. Not only can she dance but I thought she was the most graceful dancer on that stage. She was also a member of the Bailagos dance group at CSA.
3) She’s artistically creative, or creatively artistic, or art…. whatever!
She has this thing about creating stuff, cutesy, artsy stuff, which I think is a great reflection of her character. She would turn old boxes into something useful. She would make paper roses, or paper stars, or whatever. You need a banner to greet someone? No problem! Kim would make a huge banner that would really make the person say “wow”.
4) She is not “pikon”
If you’re the youngest child and your gap from your siblings is about 6 years and up, there’s going to be a lot of bullying in your household. Well ok let’s not call it bullying, as children my brother and I used to pick on Kim just because we were older and well, we like the sound of her crying. As we grow up though the jokes became a little subtle but still whenever I would throw something at her she would just laugh it off. Even if you call her names, as long as you throw it at her affectionately like moi, she would just laugh it off and she would just think of something to throw back.
5) She absolutely hates badminton
Not that she sucks at badminton, but I really do not know why she can’t stand playing badminton. I had to pay her Php100 just so I could get her to play with me for half an hour. I remember I played volleyball with her, even basketball, but badminton…. Damn.
6) She loves moolah!
Okay here’s the thing, at age 12 we predicted that Kim will be a certified extortionist in the future. She will not move a muscle unless you give her something that would make her hear $Cashing Cashing$, or a good beating (of course from our Dad, she would try though). If you ask her to buy something from the sari-sari store she would complain if you give her the exact amount, because she would keep the change. When she was younger instead of having a birthday party she would just ask money from mom and dad, then she would buy stuff. If you watch Spongebob Squarepants, she is the equivalent (I mean exact equivalent) of Mr. Crabs. Yun na!
To my baby sister, Happy happy birthday!! People may think that you’re 22 but to me you’re always going to be 6. I know you’re smart and intelligent, and I am so proud to be your sister. I have no doubts whatsoever that you will achieve more than what everyone expects of you, you’re born to do great things. We love you and we’re here to support you all the way, because we know that you’re young and so new at this “grown-up” world.
Just remember to always listen to mom and dad, believe me, they know what they’re talking about. After all, we won’t be where we are or who we are if not for them.
